Lighting a Morsø Forno Oven
To light up the Forno can be compared to lighting a fireplace. Place the big firewood in the bottom and place the small ones at the top. It almost impossible to put too much firewoods on, so just fill on.
When the lighting wood is burned, it is distributed one the stone in the middle, and then you add some more firewood. If the oven should be used for pizza baking, you can use finely chopped, to get a quick lighting.
When this is burned, you have to repeat this until you have enough embers to cover the entire bottom in the grill. You can with advantage use the fire toungs from Morsø, to avoid burning your fingers.
Use the right firewood
When you use the stove the wood should always be dry, clean and unprocessed. Never use driftwood, as it has a fairly salt content which can damage the oven. Also, it is not good to use pine, resin-containing woods, painted wood and particle boards, as they can develop toxic gases during burning.
Pizza baking
If the stove should be used as a pizza stove, it have to be very hot, and there should be flames in the sides. The oven should be ready for pizza baking within 30-60 minutes. You can read more about making pizza in a Morsø oven here.
