Although our bioethanol fireplaces are tested and safe to use, accidents can occur during refilling or if combustible materials come into contact with the flames. That is why we always recommend that you have a fire extinguisher, fire blanket or similar available in your home - and even if you don't have a bio fireplace it is always a good idea to have a fire extinguisher at hand.

A fire extinguisher for the home
A home fire extinguisher is a device designed to extinguish small fires in a home environment. A home fire extinguisher is usually lighter and more compact than professional fire extinguishers and is specifically designed to deal with fires that occur in the kitchen, living room or bedroom.
There are different types of fire extinguishers, but the most common type is a powder fire extinguisher. Having a fire extinguisher in your home is important as it can help you put out a fire quickly before it grows bigger and more dangerous. It can also give you and your family the extra security that may be needed in the event of a fire.
Powder extinguisher for bio fireplaces
When you need to find a fire extinguisher to put out fires that originate from a bioethanol fireplace, the vast majority of fire extinguishers will be able to work. However, we recommend that you use a powder extinguisher - i.e. a fire extinguisher whose content is fire-retardant foam.
However, you should NOT use a fire extinguisher with water, also called a water extinguisher, to extinguish fires in a bioethanol fireplace or other liquid fires.
What is a fire blanket
A fire blanket is a device that can be used to extinguish small fires in a home environment. It is usually designed as a blanket made of a fire-retardant material, such as fibreglass or fire-resistant silicone.
When a fire blanket is used to extinguish a fire, it should be removed from its storage bag or box and placed over the burning surface or object. The fire blanket isolates the fire and suffocates the fire by closing off the supply of oxygen.
Fire extinguisher for car and boat
It can often be a good idea to have a small fire extinguisher in the car to extinguish fires that occur inside the car or in the engine compartment. A car fire extinguisher is a portable device designed to extinguish small fires, most commonly caused by oil or gasoline.
It is important to have a fire extinguisher in your car or on your boat, as it can help you react quickly in the event of a fire and prevent a small fire from developing into a larger and uncontrollable fire.
