Gas, Bioethanol Or Electricity?
What would be the best choice for my outdoor patio heater? Should it be bioethanol, gas or electricity? We often get this question, and one important factor is, of course, the design. Does the product fit with your garden furniture, that particular colour of paint or your patio area lighting? Therefore, you should consider whether you appreciate the decor as opposed to the heating effect and consumption of the device.
Of course, it is also important to consider whether it should be a wall model, freestanding floor model or a type of hanging model. Design preferences are very individual, so the heaters may suit different patios. You are welcome to send us pictures of your terrace or patio, and we will be happy to help you.
If you need lighting and warmth on your patio, one of our patio heaters with a flame could be a perfect solution. The patio heater provides a large, beautiful flame that spreads a cosy sensation to its surroundings. In addition to this, the large orange flame brightens up the area. If, on the other hand, you want less light on the patio but still a warming effect, the infrared electric heaters from Heatstrip could be a good solution for you. With the patented design of Heatstrip, there are no visible heat effects.
Bioethanol
Bioethanol fireplaces are great because they require almost no installation. They are incredibly flexible and some models are completely portable also. That being said, bioethanol fuel also has its limitations when taking these products outside on the patio. Let us put it out there - they are great for the patio, but there are still limitations in regards to outdoor heating.
Bioethanol fireplaces are fine for outdoor use when it comes to a tabletop fire where the aim simply is to give off a minimal heat effect. They are extremely suitable if you want a cosy outdoor atmosphere. This is because they are easy to move around on a patio table, and light up so you have a living flame on the table.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for outdoor heating, a bio ethanol fireplace might not be the best choice, because the flame and consumption will be very much affected by the wind outside. An outdoor ethanol heater is therefore mostly for the sake of establishing a cosy atmosphere, as they do not create heat the same way a gas or electric fireplace does.
Freestanding bioethanol fireplaces from indoor can easily be lifted outdoors to extend the cosy summer evenings. You will have a living flame and will not even need to invest in a new heater.
Gas
Gas patio heaters are particularly effective for outdoor use. This type of heating is familiar in a vast majority of homes with gardens because it has been recognised as an outdoor heating source for many years. There are many reasons for using gas as outdoor heating - it is easy, cheap, and good-looking.
Heating with gas heaters is easy because the products are typically connected to a gas cylinder. The cylinder then burns for a set number of hours, after which it needs to be replaced when it runs out. This process is relatively simple and preferred in most homes.
The heating source is one of the cheaper options when comparing heat output in kW with consumption. Here, gas typically beats both bioethanol and electric heaters, as they can dissipate an incredible amount of heat for a relatively low cost compared to the alternatives.
Electricity
Heating with electricity outdoors makes a lot of people think that the heat just fades into the open. And that is true in a sense, but they can be extremely effective and comfortable if hung for their intended purpose. It is often seen that electric patio heaters are ceiling or wall mounted when visiting the local café or restaurant. They are quite easy to install, but the challenge is that they use a lot of power to heat.
These power heaters should therefore be hung under a canopy to keep the heat inside the area. This is typically how we see the products being installed.
The consumption of an electric patio heater can often be compared to ordinary electric heaters. They can provide a lot of radiant heat, but do not extend into larger areas. An infrared electric patio heater is ideal for stylish and modern homes. They are extremely elegant, and the fact that they are invisible infrared heaters makes them incredibly interesting.
Patio Heater In Your Greenhouse
It has become extremely popular to have a greenhouse these days. And we certainly understand why! What could possibly be more cosy than enjoying your flowers while being warm at the same time?
However, the English is not always predictable, why it can be a good idea to install a heat source in the room. Naturally, you will look towards a modern patio heater, which can both heat and look good at the same time. Many of our heaters both look good and create warmth at the same time.
If you are not completely sure how much heat each patio heater provides, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.
Patio heater with flame - the pyramid patio heater
We won't hide the fact that we prefer the modern and trendy patio heater to the classic steel pyramid heater. The two types of heaters are not comparable in style - our modern heaters are available in different colours to suit different environments. The classic patio heater, on the other hand, is more uniform in its design and is available in plain steel.
The price is often higher on our modern patio heaters, which is obviously related to the quality. You can expect the products on this page will remain beautiful, season after season.
Accessories for your patio heater
Many of our products have a wide range of accessories that either protect your heater or enhance the experience and comfort of use. Protection includes a cover, which can be purchased for most models. This can be a good idea, as we cannot always count on the British weather.
Our infrared models are typically mounted under a canopy or the like, so these rarely need protection from a cover. This is especially true for our modern Heatstrip infrared patio heaters, which have become increasingly popular. They do, however, offer a wide range of other accessories in the form of extension poles, wall or ceiling brackets and built-in boxes so the heater can be mounted at the correct height and location.
A gas patio heater often needs some accessories in the form of a gas shield or a protective cover. Find all our accessories for gas heaters here.

Perhaps you have heard that gas fireplaces require a plumber. This is not the case with outdoor models, as there is no flue leading to the fireplace.
